My first choice for bridesmaids dresses was to have them made in China, overseen by my amazing bridesmaid, Sara. I had a swatch sent to China and she set off to the amazing fabric market. (Imagine an entire mall of just fabric stores and you'll get the idea). Unfortunately, apparently, the local Chinese seamstresses were not fond of my platinum and plum colors choices. Blue-based colors are not considered lucky--traditional Chinese wedding dresses are "lucky" red. So alas, plan B.
Plan B is "HOLY COW! We need to order dresses YESTERDAY!" But thanks to the wonder of the internet and quick responding bridesmaids around the world, we were able to order our blue-based plum bridesmaids dresses.
I decided to purchase them from the same shop where I bought my dress because they gave me a discount for paying in full. While I was looking at the dress and swatches, one of the employees was calling people to tell them that their dresses, shoes, etc. were ready to be picked up. After she hung up after a call, I said I couldn't wait until she called me. She asked me name so she could look up my order. I told her I was expecting it mid-May. She started laughing and said she just called me. Sure enough, I had my phone on vibrate. My voicemail was full (I'm an audio pack rat) so she couldn't leave a message. I was SO excited!!!! Since I'm having my alterations done elsewhere, I was able to bring my dress home! My first fitting is tomorrow and I can't wait!!!
